Ear piercing services are available by appointment only for kids (5+ years) and adults.

For school-aged children and pre-teens, we offer piercing both ears at the same time so there’s no anticipation anxiety. 

Adults- If you are getting a second piercing (or third…), be sure to wear your favorite earrings so we can accurately place the new piercing.

Before we start the procedure, we will ask you to sign an informed consent form that reviews the risks listed below.

• Infection: There is a risk of infection anytime the skin is broken. We reduce this risk significantly by using sterile technique, using sterile, single-use piercing cassettes, and providing specific aftercare instructions.

• Pain: The pain is brief and similar to vaccine injection using the Blomdahl® system. Patients who are old enough to communicate verbally sometimes say that their earlobes briefly feel warm and flushed after the procedure. 

• Keloids: Keloids are shiny, smooth and rounded skin elevations, which can form at the piercing site in some patients because of altered wound healing. Keloids tend to run in families, are more likely to occur in patients with darker skin pigmentation, and generally occur in persons 10 to 30 years of age. 

Placement is marked with a surgical nontoxic pen that leaves a purple dot on the ear. Once the dots have been place, parents are given the opportunity to judge the location and changes are made if needed.

No one has perfectly symmetrical earlobes so minor variation in earlobe shape and size are expected and not a problem.

We do not pierce ear cartilage (the upper part of the ear), noses or belly buttons.

🔹Honesty is the best policy. Getting your ears pierced is not very painful, but you will experience a small amount of discomfort. 

🔹We also offer pre-procedure numbing cream for the ear lobe (which needs to be left on for 30 minutes) in order to minimize (not eliminate) pain during the procedure. If you would like to use the cream, notify us when scheduling visit.

🔹If your child decides that today is not the day to get their ears pierced, we will always respect their decision. We require consent from the child. 

🔹We will not pierce anyone that is not ready. Nor will we make any attempts to convince or coerced them into getting it done. 

🔹There is never a fee for cancellation, even if that decision is made moments before getting pierced.

Clean piercings 2-3 times a day. Do NOT remove earrings when cleansing.

• • Always thoroughly wash your hands before touching your piercing.
  • Use mild, fragrance-free liquid soap and rinse thoroughly with clean water. Gently dry with clean gauze or cotton Q-tip.
  • Additional cleansing: Clean the piercing with a sterile saline solution. Spray the front and back of the piercing directly or soak a non-woven gauze in saline and apply to the piercing for 5 minutes. Use a saline soaked Q-tip to clean any buildup or “crusties” that may have collected around jewelry, with minimal jewelry movement. Gently dry with clean gauze or cotton Q-tip.
  • Unlike conventional ear piercings, there is no need to rotate the temporary studs to prevent them from adhering to the skin.
  • Do NOT clean with alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, betadine, or antiseptic solution as this can slow down the healing process. Do not use any essential oils, creams, or ointments.

🔹You can remove the starter earrings six-eight weeks after your ear piercing. Be sure to replace immediately, or the piercing hole could close. There has to be an earring in the ear at all times until the piercing has fully healed, anywhere from 3 to 6 months depending on the person.

🔹It is recommended to wear earrings 100% of the time for ONE YEAR for best results.

Nearly 20% of people around the world are allergic to jewelry. Nickel is usually the culprit, but people are also allergic to gold, silver and other metals used in jewelry. 

We chose an ear-piercing system that uses medical-grade plastic or titanium in order to avoid a potential nickel allergy during the healing process.

Allergic contact dermatitis (ACD) is an itchy rash that occurs when your skin comes in contact with a typically harmless substance. Nickel is one of the most common causes of ACD and once you develop nickel allergy you will always be sensitive to it. Unfortunately, nickel is commonly used as a metal hardener and most metals used for ear piercing contain (or “leak”) enough nickel to trigger a potential allergic reaction. 

If you are considering piercing your child’s ears, please find a professional, help your child keep the area clean, and see your physician right away if there is any sign of infection or irritation.

It is best to use hypoallergenic earrings until piercing is fully healed. (See allergy above).

It is best to avoid hanging or heavy earrings for at least 6 months after a new piercing, as it can pull on the hole and create a larger or elongated hole.
